I've already got 2 apple, one each of blackcurrant, redcurrant and crab apple which are growing well. Had a good crop of redcurrant this year. The web site sometimes has details of variety and I had a reply to an email giving this information.History teaches us that history teaches us nothing. - Hegel

The problem with cheap stuff is that it is often "end of season clearance" and the labels are often quite vague - failing to mention the specific variety or rootstocks used.
Quite often, people report that what the tree grew into was not what they expected - such as they bought what was labelled as a plum tree but it turned out to be a cherry tree, or they bought what should have been a dwarf "patio-pot-size" Cox's Orange Pippin that should have grown to 5ft, but actually got a full-size "heavy standard" Bramley that grew to 25ft.
.
In most years I have a few spare fruit trees, fruit bushes, strawberries and nut bushes that I don't need, or which I've had "on trial" and then either abandoned the variety because it wasn't the flavour/performance that I hoped for, or because I liked it so much that I decided to upgrade from a small cordon to a large half-standard.
I usually struggle to manage to give them away for free to anyone who will collect.

I am a big fun of aldi fruit trees and bushes - cheap and cheerful. I got a stella cherry tree back several year ago and it produces abundant fruit every year. Some raspberry bushes I got the past year produce respectable crop this year. They probably take longer to establish than the ones you get from garden centres but nothing wrong with them. Very good value if you need a lot of them as well.

My allotment is full of Aldi/Netto/Poundland/Wilco's/Poundstretcher fruit bushes. Never had a wrongly labelled plant and they are all thriving & fruiting well.
If these cheapo shops bring hard & soft fruit growing to the masses, all to the good in my opinion!
If my dealings with Garden Centres and specialist nurseries are anything to go by, you are far more likely to be sold wrongly labelled plants there! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
