It would appear I'm the only one who has fallen foul of the cheap fruit offers from the cheapo supermarkets.

I have bought blueberries from B&M bargains, which when transplanted into ericaceous compost were bare rooted, ie had not roots at all. Stella cherry, which wasn't. and eventually succumbed to bacterial canker, which Stella is supposed to be resistant.

I have had so many bad experiences with the cheap and cheerful 'bargains' that I would never ever buy again.

I must just have a lucky face.

The thing about these latest bargains is that they are healthy potted young plants which we can work our magic on! They are a good way for the skinflint/hardup beggers like myself to get an insight into fruit growing, without breaking the bank!

Woolworths used to be brilliant for garden bargains. I've got both fruit and flowering plants I bought which are doing brilliantly, but since their demise no one quite seems to have filled the void.

I'm a reasonably competent gardener, but to get some of the plants to grow, from the likes of NETTO, Aldi, Lidl, Poundland, B&M bargains, etc, they really test your gardening capabilities. I've learned the hard way to leave them on the shelf.
