  • Plum tree trouble

I'm new to the whole grow your own thing and have decided to plant a victoria marionette fruit tree in a pot.

I received the tree in the winter and planted it in a pot that just covered the roots.

I planted the tree in a larger pot in march and it seemed to be doing OK although now many of the leaves have turned a darker shade of green with brown edges and a dark dappled pattern on them! Some of the branches seem to be doing the same thing!

Not sure what to do about it? Should I ignore it or is it something that will kill the plant and then I will never experience home grown plums!!

    Thank you!

Welcome to the vine boatwife. It can be quite difficult to get fruit trees established in pots as soil temperature and water can very so much. If the tree has leaves then at least it started growing which is a good sign. Leaves do darken as the season progresses. The browning of the leaf edges suggests a lack of water. I would give it a feed of blood fish and bone and keep it well watered.
