Hi All,
Planted a plum tree 2 years ago and was delighted this early summer to have about thirty plums developing. Plums are now almost full size but still greenish and turning slight yellow. Yesterday to my horror saw two of the plums lying on the ground. On inspection saw small claw marks over the skin. This morning another five were on the ground. No doubt its the pesky squirrel often seen hanging around. Have just ordered a squirrel trap but any other ideas to stop or deter this squirrel. It doesnt even take a bite from the plum. Don't know what the variety is but the plums are gonna be yellow and round rather than 'plum' shaped. This tree was bought from Spalding.co.uk - I ordered a plum tree they described as 'Giant red ' plum. Anybody think I should write to them and tell them I have been given the wrong tree?
