Is it possible to grow avacado from the seed from a supermarket avacado?

Good question!! I've been trying for years, and this year I've finally got one to germinate. I stood the stone in one of those little vases that you can get prepared hyacinths in around X*** time, so that just the bottom was in water. Took ages, but it finally produced root and shoots so it is now in a pot.

Yes you can, but I think you will have to be patient for the fruit. It can take in excess of 10 years.

I grew one from a stone from an avodaco that I bought from Tesco a few years ago. It grew to about 2 ft then died. It was in my conservatory, shame I was looking forward to eating some.
