Vic plum disaster

Help,
all of my plums on the tree are doing well untill you open them up and they have a small white maggot in them, any ideas what they are and how to get rid for next year please.

I sometimes get little white worms/maggots in the plums. They are near the stone, so I just cut the plums in half, discard the stone and the maggot and eat or cook the rest.

I think it's plum sawfly . We get it and you can tell by what looks like clear gel stuff on the outside of the plum (ours is Marjorie's Seedling) . Not sure best way to deal with it apart from keep the ground around the tree cultivated .
