I have a bush and a standard, they are as hardy as old boots. I keep them outdoors all year round. Hard frost is not a problem.

How big are the pots buried in the ground? Thanks

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

They are tree buckets; the sort tree nurseries use. I guess they are about 95 litres. Think plastic dustbin, but a bit shorter in height, and wider at the top. If I can find a picture, I'll add one.

Here ya go. This is actually a smaller one, but exactly the same, otherwise.
