    I gathered some earlier, they are ready early to mid September here, if you go too late, they have all fallen and the squirrels have gathered them up. This year there were a lot with maggots in though, and from my very small nut tree I got about 10, again most were magotty. Very disconcerting if you don't notice the hole before cracking. Luckily Kissykit is very pragmatic about those sorts of things (although finding a maggot in a sugar snap pea pod put her off of eating those ever again).
    I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

      Don't eat rosehips, ensure the hairs are strained out of juice etc. I think you may be able to remove the hairs and eat them, but I was taught never to eat the hips just use them for jelly & syrup...
