Has anyone ever tried sowing Papaya seed ? I realise that they probably wouldn't fruit over here but wondered if it would make a different plant for the conservatory.

If you google there is a photo journal of growing from seed. Seems to be fairly straightforward providing you select mature seeds from within your papaya. Bit hit and miss as to weather you will get one to fruit properly as the plant can be either male, female or both (i.e. self fertile). If you manage to get a self fertile one then great otherwise you will need a male and a female plant.

if you grow papaya buy seed they can fruit in under 18months, ive seen it in england though i have never tried it beforeDont judge a plant by it's pot.Comment
