I've considered Opal as it had a number of features that appealed to me (can't remember what though) but plums don't grow well in dry/shallow soils like mine.
    I have a 10yr Victoria on St.Julien and it's about 4-5ft height/spread.
But I think that my soil is in the worst 10% in the whole UK.

So do you reckon it will be ok. Its going on the top lottie and will be in full sun for most of the day. It was about 3pm when we noticed the plot was in the shade today with the sun being lower in the sky.

Plot is on a slope but isnt too bad at the bottom where we will be putting what ever we get. I was considering a Victoria or a Damson ( merrywether ) but when I saw this for £5.60p I thought why not.

It should be fine. I'd go for it.
