I have a baby lemon tree and a baby orange tree. Whereabouts are you, and do you grow citrus?

Hi Mell - I had a small lemon tree come through last year's winter outside (with some wrapping up) - this year it was chirpy enough to set a few baby lemons...
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Brave to leave it out all winter ! Yes I have a lemon, an orange (wilko special), A small ornamental orange which gives LOADS of fruit babies of satsuma, thai lime, dragon, and two others which are more unusual (so much so I can't remember their names) All live in pots , outside May to Early Nov, then in my orangery . I really want a cutting of grapefruit and Valencia orange.

I'm growing a lemon tree (Europa) that's about 3 feet tall. It's currently in a fleece cover in the conservatory. It's suffered from a red spider mite infestation but hopefully will put on good growth next year.

Hi Mell. Could you add your location to your profile please? You seem to have an impressive collection of citrus.

I don't want a repeat of last year's cold winter which nearly killed a Ficus tree I have in the conservatory.

Ok that's a pain, what sort ? I wouldn't have thought it was cold TBH, as I've got figs living outside.

Have added location now ! Citrus collection isn't as big as the apple or pear collections fig collection quite small so far

It's a Ficus benjamina that lost a lot of leaves and has not fully recovered.

I think the bigger figs will be ok outside but the one I have in a container was frosted because I put it outside too early (it's overwintered in the greenhouse) and the embryo figs all dropped off. I think last winter was unusual though.

I have a baby lemon tree, it's about 4 inches tall but it was about 1 inch when I got it earlier in the year so I think it's doing ok Mine stays indoors all the time, too cold here for out I think. South facing window all summer and now kitchen all winter where it's always warm.

It is a balancing act when to put stuff out !

Most people seem to have bady trees that haven't fruited yet ?

My two are only babies as I can't afford to buy big ones! My lemon came from the Eden Project as a present from my daughter.
