              None of those I'm afraid

Vanessa might suit but mine isn't big enough for cuttings yet

I tried to grow a black hamburg from a hardwood cutting (or actually several) last year but no luck.
I was told to put in a large pot with good quality compost, in a cool place...

any suggestions what I did wrong?

Did you use rooting compound ? how much did you bury, I use 8 inch cuttings, ideally, and bury all but one bud (vertically) bottom heat increases you chances

How difficult is it to grow vines from seed? I bought some italian grapes that were huge, and really nice, but I suspect they may be hybrids. I bought some just for the seeds, but now wonder if it will work

My sister grew one from seed and my mum had it planted in her greenhouse for about 20 years, until my brother tok over the house. Sadly it never even flowered. Maybe you will be luckier, I have always taken cuttings of mine and taken it with me whenever I moved.
I sent out a number of cuttings last year, and had some of the black hamburg ones in exchange. I got 3 growing. If anyone is interested and cold weather allowing. I don't use any rooting compound, usually sticking them into old compost from the tomatoes, keeping it moist in the cold greenhouse. Some years are better than others, but I usually get a reasonable success rate. I do try to make sure there are at least 2 buds under the compost.

I don't think they grow true from seed.

I use rooting compound as some seem to take easier than others, it seems to increase the strike rate, esp if I only have a few or have bought in
