Holly bush

I have a Holly bush growing in the garden, it is about 4ft tall and very healthy. I want to dig it up and put it in a pot to make more of a feature of it and perhaps prune it into a better shape. Can anyone give advice on what month would be the best to dig it up and do they do well in pots.

I don;t think holly likes being moved much

Early Spring is supposedly the best time, but they don't like being transplanted. I just did a quick 'Google' search, which I'd suggest, as there's loads of information out there from people who have done this. Superstition says it is bad luck to cut Holly down! Whilst I have planted many many Hollies, I haven't ever transplanted a mature one. Good luck.
