Thanks for that Mell and also for the Medlar offer. Can you recommend a really good book though because I'm right across from Lancashire.Also when would be the best time to try .

The videos from Fruitwise are very good YouTube - Fruitwise apple tree grafting, the saddle graft

Books The Fruit Garden Displayed (RHS, out of print)you can get it second hand easily enough online , or R J Garner's 'the grafter's handbook'

But is you can find a course go on that I think it beats learning from books or videos
