  • Bare root plum tree survival?

I have just taken delivery of a bare root plum tree and want to get it in the ground as soon as the frost has passed... dont think its going to happen today so the next chance will be next weekend fingers crossed.

Do I need to worry about the roots drying out... theyre already pretty dry but ive read that as the tree is dormant it should be ok. Don't know when it was lifted from the ground though.

    Thanks

you can put it in a fertilizer sack with a few spades of compost or earth that is moist, Put it in a frost free (ish) place and it will be fine for a week or two.

Many times ive had them delvered bare root in october and planted in feb/march, not done anything to them, but i keep them dark and cold in an unheated room, before planting i soak them in water for half an hour
