  • Cranberry Bushes

I have a couple of blueberry plants in tubs and I've heard that cranberry plants are a good companion plant for them as they both like ericaceous compost and obviously cranberries offer ground cover while the bluberries grow upwards.

I guess my question is, if I were to buy some cranberry plants would I just need one for each tub? I'm guessing they spread and I wouldn't want anything to be too cramped and fighting for survival. Any advice about cranberries in general would also be useful as I'm in unknown territory here

    How big are your tubs?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I would be interested to know this aswell as I would like to grow them like this but i think you would need a bigger pot as I have some blueberries in 16inch tubs and i cannot imagine the 2 root systems having enough space, I have thought about making a raised bed for the purpose but don't have the room at the minute. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light...

Have ordered myself a cranberry bush from T&M. Do you think it will be ok in with my blueberry plant or should I pot them both on into a larger pot? The pot it's in at the moment is 40cm/16in

            Thanks

That seems very tight for two plants, to be honest I'd want both plants in tubs at least that size to ensure they have enough root space.
