Mango stone growing techniques please.

I'm just about to plant yet another Mango stone.
I've tried growing these for about 6 years.
I usually get the stone to sprout o.k & the trunk begins to grow. I get them to about 6-8" tall, with maybe up to 8 good strong leaves,,, then they give up.
After about 5/6/8 leaves, I can see where the next ones will be coming from, although it does look a bit more like a 'cluster' of tips rather than a single leaf. As this happens often, I was wondering if it's s'posed to do that ?

It's such a shame to bring them on that far, then lose 'em.

Thanks for that link. Some great help & advice there,,,,,, but as Sods Law prevails, it neatly skips over the initial care needed as per my quest.
Although I'm in West Cornwall, I guess it won't be warm enough to get a great tree or fruit,,,, but it dosn't cost anything to try.
