  • Strawberry Planters, Planning ahead

Does anyone have any good ideas about strawberry planters?

I have no Garden and the plan is to either build one or stack a couple of chimney pots one on top of another and carefully drill holes in them?

I was looking for a tall, thin tower design with a pipe down the middle for watering?

Someone out there must know exactly what im talking about?

Any suggestions, photos would be gratfully recieved?

What might be easier and possibly cheaper would be to use an old pastic bin and cut holes in the side.
You should still be able use a pipe in the centre for watering/feeding. Most bins come in greens/blacks and come summer you should only see fruit, flowers and foliage!

You can buy ready made plastic strawberry towers. Even with a water pipe down the centre, I still found them really hard to keep evenly watered. The ones at the top really dry out. I grow my strawberries in ordinary (large) pots and troughs in the garden, and in rows at ground level on the allotment.

Good ideas and thanks for the imput but I saw a home made planter on a site several weeks ago (unfortunatly I cant remember where) and ie was just what I wanted.

About 6 ft with loads of planting holes and a pipe down the middle that doubled up as a net support. My yard is small and that would have been perfect! ............ if only I can remember where I saw it?

It's feasible to cut holes in a plastic water barrel with a hot knife I suppose!
