Mulberries

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone advise me please? I have a black mulberry tree which is far too tall for me to reach any fruit. If I cut the top off will it encourage the tree to grow branches lower down? Also, I have a white mulberry tree but can't find any information on whether the fruit is edible. Does any one know what they can be used for?

We have a black mulberry around 150 years old, and it's always been too tall to pick the fruits!! My late father used to put sheets down on the ground when the mulberries finally turned black, and just wait for them to fall.
