Anyone growing any this year?
I've tried year on year and the biggest I ever got was one the size of a 50p. Most disappointing.
So, I'm trying for the very last time ever.
I have sown Collective Farm Woman
Real seeds says
'Collective Farm Woman' Melon
This old Ukrainian variety is not only nice and early, but has sweet, crunchy flesh. Each vine produced several melons just the right size for two (greedy) people to eat. Said to be grown in central Russia and even to ripen in Moscow - we can believe it. Most unusually, it keeps for several weeks after picking.
So I thought I'd start this thread for anyone else wanting large or even medium sized melons in their garden/greenhouse.
It might turn into therapy later in the season when we show our large bouncy or tiny shriveled melons to the world - so those with large melons please take pity on those whose melons are, quite frankly, not up to scratch.
So, mine were put into the heated prop 2 days ago and had germinated yesterday. I have 3 so far.
this is what I am hoping for
