Dead Blueberry bush :(

HI,

In November I purchased three blueberry bushes. I left them in their existing pots over winter and planted them in larger pots in the spring (early March).

Two from three have taken really well and are thriving (little white "bells" all over the bush). However the third bush has shown no sign of life. Admittedly it was planted out a few weeks later, but I was hoping for a few sprouts of 'life'.

The question is, do I concede defeat and admit I've murdered one of the bushes or hold out hope for recovery a little longer?

Before anyone else says it - Leave the bush a while longer, you've nothing to lose.

Try scratching the stem to see if there is any green underneath, if there is, there is still a chance Also, if you can snap off a stem and there is no green, the chances are it is dead

I wouldn't give up yet, I had a similar thing with a fig tree, it was virtually non existent but it came back and is now thriving.

ive put jasmine and mint to the side thinking it was dead for a few months later for them to spring to life, id wait too

One of my blueberries has turned its toes up as well ......the scratch test has been done , prognosis not good but I can't bring myself to unplant it yet......

I have lost 2 they were doing fine, planted in the ground survived the winter, topped up the chipping mulch around them a few weeks ago still doing fine, flowering and now they are deaded.

Are they potted in ericaceous soil or soil enriched with pine needles for instance. They need acid conditions to survive and are very thirsty plants. I cannot collect enough rain water so I give mine the hens' left over drinking water which has apple cider vinegar in it. The vinegar being acid.

Yes to all of the above, the stems have gone black, leaves droopy and brown.

After replying to the last post I have discovered that it is not my fault the plants have got Blueberry stem blight.

Thanks for that, not seen that before. I guess now more people are growing them we're likely to get more diseases in circulation, they used to be practically problem free here a few years ago.
