I have a 3 year old plum tree which for the first time was covered in blossom, and now has hundreds of baby plums. However, most of the green leaves are curling up, and some are starting to die. I have checked and there are no insects or aphids, and the trunk and branches look healthy. Any suggestions?

Even though you say that you can't see any bugs/aphids, it is usually aphids that cause leaves to curl.
Can you put up a picture?. -

I'm still thinking aphids.
As suggested by binley100, try uncurling a leaf and looking inside.
The aphids cause the leaves to curl as a specific way to hide from predators.
If the tree is otherwise happy, healthy and still growing, I wouldn't bother trying to get rid of the aphids.
A well-established and healthy tree will grow through them. Predators - such as ladybirds, hoverflies or lacewings - may also arrive to eat the aphids.
Prolonged periods of warm dry weather (we've had a fantastic spring for going outdoors!) tend to favour aphid attacks. A good dose of heavy rain can wash a lot of the aphids off..Comment
