  • Fruit Tree Pests

    Hi Folks

Last year when i got my very 1st allotment and there were 5 fruit trees on it but didn't know what they were this year i have found out that there are 2 x Plum Trees, 2 x Cherries & 1 x Apple.
My question is, Last year there were no fruit on any of the trees but this year all seems OK with the Apple and Plums but the cherries have all but 1 or 2 totally dissapeared.
There were loads about 2 weeks ago but now they seem to have dissapeared.
I have noticed that some of the leaves look like they have been eaten by something but on closer inspection I can't actually see anything.
I was wondering if I should be spraying them with something and if so What? and can i spray all the fruit trees with the same thing to stop any other pests?
    Cheers .... John

No, you do not need to spray with anything. As for as the disappearing cherries are concerned, either they were not pollinated, or got frosted or they have been taken by birds. Cherries need to be netted against birds.

Whatever was eating the leaves has probably been eaten by bluetits
I've seen a wood pigeon eat a lot of my cherries - and the wind seems blown a lot off too
