vine in a planter?

Hi peeps, i bought a grapevine a couple of weeks ago, i was going to plant it into my greenhouse which i have to find the time to build yet, but on the other hand i dont have a great place for the greenhouse so i dont know what to do with it anymore.

so... temporarily, can i plant the vine in a large container or planter and will it fruit if i do this?

and what fertiliser or feed would you guys recommend to use on the vine?

Yes, you can put it in a very large pot, but you will need to watch that it is kept well watered. A slow release fertilizer, such as bone meal, would be suitable. It normally takes 2 to 3 years to fruit.

I have one in a pot, but I have only been growing it since March. Can't decide yet where to grow it. It has grown two side shoots which are about 2ft long each.

I don't think it will work, long term, but short term you should be able to keep it alive. Each time I put a vine in a pot it was dead within a year. Chuck them in the ground and they become almost indestructible...

I have 2 in large pots, got grapes off them in 1st year, but so far this year have nothing
I live in Greece and everyone else's Grapes seem to be coming on fine

put it in a big pot(i use cutdown dustbins,plastic),with john innes No3 ,a handfull of bonemeal thrown in,grow as a standard and put in the greenhouse/shed over the worst of winter,as a standard it is easier to tuck it away from the worst of winters storms and easier to train for the fruit....enjoy..
