Hi Everyone,
Some general fig advice greatly appreciated....
So, I had a small potted fig tree that I potted up, probably far far to big a pot (2ft in diameter) a few years ago. It never seemed that happy afterwards- it was only in multipurpose compost (a mistake, I fear). It went to a friends house for a couple of years (as I moved to a flat)- he accidentally gave it a HUGE amount of fertiliser/feeding and it nearly died.
Now, another couple of years on it seems a little happier, not really rampant, but has some leaves about the size of a hand and even 3 fruits!
Now however I am considering putting it into a "square" pot so it can be grown/espalliered against a hot external wall.
So...my questions:
Is it a good idea to repot it.
What sort of soil should it go in
When is a better time to do it.
What kind of care/watering/feeding should it have.
I see these growing vigourously elsewhere (in my pals garden...with a cutting from MY tree)! but why isn't mine?
Anything else/advice/suggestions?
Many thanks
