I planted a gooseberry at the lottie this spring and it now has a shoot coming up from underground about 2" away from the main stem. Do I let this grow or can I cut it off below ground level and replant it? It doesn't fit the bush 'style' as the main plant has one stem as a kind of small standard so am not sure quite what to do. Never grown goosgogs before.

Have a gentle fertle to see if it has any roots yet.
TBH- I'd leave it be and check it again in the Autumn- and if it has roots then chop it off and replant it.
I seem to get at least 10 free baby , ready rooted plants every Autumn- perfect for gifts!!!!!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
