  • Ripening blueberries

I have 2 blueberry bushes in pots on my patio. First time grower of these, so very keen on a good harvest. There are plenty of berries on each plant but only a single berry on each one has ripened. Am I to assume that where one goes the rest will follow shortly?

Yes, they ripen at different times. I find they taste sweeter if you have them in full sun.

Thanks both. A few others are starting to turn purpley now so things are looking up.

I have been picking for a couple of weeks now and will probably still be picking in four weeks time. They hold very well in the fridge so you can keep then till you have enough to do something with. I think so far I have had about 1.5lbs and usually I get between 12/18lb, having said that the crop does look to be down this year. Will need to repot and give a good feed for next year. Have a couple of new plants but won't expect a crop from them for two years.

Mine have all been eaten faster than they have ripened by something, I think a mouse as they are netted against the birds.
