  • Strawberry bed

    Hi
I've just potted up strawberry runners and composted old strawberry plants. I had bumper crop last year but very few this year. Can I just replant runners in same bed, When is best time to add compost/manure to strawberry patch, or should I plant new runners in fresh plot in garden
    Any advice welcome
    Thanks,
    Kath

Have you cleared the entire bed? How big is it?

Like every other crop, it is best to use a scheme of rotation to prevent the build up of pests and diseases and also to be able to take the opportunity to replenish the general good of the plot with the addition of fym/compost etc. Having said that, I have no doubt you will still get strawberries.

        Thanks for your replies.
I am still clearing ground elder out of patch, but disturbed 2 bees in soil, so I'm leaving it as it is for a while. I think i'll replant them somewhere else. Kath
