  • Feeling nutty actually

Really really want to grow my own walnuts - anyone have one and do they actually fruit in this country? Any information would be greatfully received.

Yes they do: we ate out t'other evening, there was a walnut tree outside, and the proprietor said every autumn people came round thumping the tree with sticks to get the nuts down

OOOH that hurts just to think about it.

Seriously, One of my customers planted a walnut tree more than 5 years ago and it has made little progress. Probably just to cold for too long up here. I'm sure walnuts bleed out if the stem/trunk is damaged too so that is something to consider if deer or rabbits are present.

We have rabbits but no deer!
