  • stella Cherry in a pot.

Hello, this is my first ever forum post.

We recieved a stella Cherry tree for a home warming present last year and as our garden is not very big and I heard that cherry tree roots grow a long way so we had to plant it in a pot. we used 100% compost from Band Q and stones from the garden for drainage and potted it using a 55cm diameter pot. The tree is positioned in a partly shaded spot in the garden.

The tree was planted last June and grew well in the first season (probably a foot) starting new branches and growing plenty of new leaves.

Then at the beggining of this growing season we had a lot of wind in Scotland and the top leaves started to curl upand turn brown. When the winds died down the leaves did not recover and now all of the top leaves are black and dead and the other leaves are starting to go brown around the edges and curl up.

The tree did flower and fruits did start to apea but didn't turn into rippened cherrys and I think the birds took them. We feed the plant with B and Qs fruit tree feed and water it a lot when the weather is dry.

Would it be a good idea to re pot the tree in a bigger pot? Also is there anything else we can do to make this tree a bit happier?

    Many thanks

    Dave
