Czar plum tree - taking cuttings? [and crabapple trees]

We have a Czar tree which is about ten years old now and has started to fruit abundantly. However, it's really in the wrong place. I was thinking of taking some cuttings [as the variety is certainly suited to our garden soil] and planting them in a row between stakes pruning them 'fan' style (or whatever it's called).

I was wondering if anyone had had experience of taking cuttings and what they'd recommend. Perhaps i'd be better just buying four new trees? I'm thinking of doing the same with a crab apple tree.

Any advice much appreciated.

Fruit trees are normally propagated by grafting onto a suitable rootstock. You may have difficulty getting cuttings to root and even if they do you'll have to wait many years for them to fruit.

Best answer would be to buy new trees and train them to the shape you want. More expensive but guaranteed results.

Or buy another plum and graft a few czar branches onto it?
