  • Victoria plum tree????

    Hi

I have a supposedly victoria plum tree, it fruited for first time this year but the plums were only ripe when they were very purple, does this mean that it is not a victoria plum tree? It has taken a few years to fruit properly so I thought if it was a victoria then they would be ripe when the fruit was reddy yellow. The insides were yellowish too.

I really need to know as I am buying another tree and don't want two victoria plums

    thanks

    Sarah

I have a victoria plum, it is ripe when the skins are purple and the flesh is greeny yellow.

If its very dark purple, it would suggest its a different plum.

        Hi

many thanks, they were ripewhen darker than your pic taff, got it from spalding I think a few years ago. ITs not opal either as those taste really nice, these were not the best tasting really.

        many thanks both of you

I bought a "Victoria" too, can't remember supplier but they're well known, and it's also a very dark purple, with sweet yellow flesh, it looks more like President
