Has anyone tried Snow White Strawberries? Van Meuwen are advertising the variety. They have red pips and white flesh and are reputed to smell and taste more like pineapple than strawberry!

The red and purple colours in fruits are often the substances known as "anthocyanins" which are claimed to be health-promoting.
If you take away the colour, you may well be taking away some of the health benefits.
You'll often find that apples with intense red colour have a hint of strawberry flavour, which is probably caused by the red pigments (anthocyanins). Take away the red and you'll probably lose much of the strawberry flavour - which is probably why these white-flesh strawberries taste more like pineapple.
Fine if you want something different, but probably less nutritious than the common type.. -
