  • Blueberry surprise

Went to have another look at one of my blueberries whose leaves are turning into their beautiful autumn colours only to find they have nearly all been stripped off, only the central vein left. No sign of any pest/bug. I did not think they were vulnerable to this sort of attack.

It sounds like a sawfly attack ..? See this thread and the last post in this: http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...elp_58394.html

    Also mentioned here: http://www.vegetable-gardens.co.uk/f...erpillars.html

I still haven't found out exactly what type of caterpillar is doing the damage though. Yours may well have dropped into the soil under your blueberry to pupate. Have a bit of a scratch/hoe around and see what you find, or what the birds find

Thanks TS. I found a small green and black caterpillar hiding under the container. Was very pretty, no camera so no pic and was is the important word.
