Goji berries

would like to get some ideas of how to grow these as have seen a special offer in
(ahem) "another kitchen garden magazine" for a plant. But even Carol Klein doesn't give much information on what to do with them. Indoors? Outdoors? On the plot or in a pot?
Any info gratefully received.

Goji's are not much different from brambles - they are frighteningly vigorous (a pencil-sized cutting, after a year to establish, can send out shoots of several feet in length during its second year).
They are also straggly-growers with some thorns as they age and will grow like weeds just about anywhere (although they will need help to establish in their first season).
If the soil is too fertile, they will become extremely large and unfruitful.
I suggest grow them initially in compost in a pot to get the young plants going and then transplant them into your poorest soil to calm them down and encourage cropping. Do not feed unless they show obvious signs of nutrient deficiency (e.g. off-colour leaves) and only water if they start to wilt.
