  • Damsons / Sloes - Grown from seed

Hi all new to all this so hope you dont mind me asking a question ?

Can I grow dasons or soles from the seeds inside the fruit or are they designed to pass through an animal first ?

Could I take a cutting if I found a wild one (I know where there are sloes)?

How easy are they to grow and when can I expect fruit ?

Easiest way is to take suckers (root cuttings) from an established plant- they are very easy to grow, and from now is a good time to do so. They will fruit very quickly

When we went picking sloes a while back we found quite a few seedlings growing round the base, which will be chopped back by the council if someone doesn't dig them up.

...Although you can buy damsons as cultivated trees too from major nurseries. Lovely fruit and well worth the effort.
Thanks for the links above too, very interesting reading.
