  • Pollination partners for plum trees

Hello! I have bought a damson merryweather, an old english green gage and an opal plum tree and just realised that plum trees need pollination partners but I don't have space for any more trees. My neighbour round the back has two plum trees of unkown variety. We think one of them might be a victoria but I don't know. Will these ones work together to give me fruit or am I going to be dissappointed? Thank you!

Many plums are self-fertile, including those which you have. They will often cross-pollinate with gages.

With their self-fertility and several different plum/gage trees in your area, pollination shouldn't be a problem.

Plums flower early in the season and bad weather at flowering time can reduce flower fertility or can deter bees from flying, with the potential for poor pollination.
