    Morning Grapes!

We have recently moved and have a large (25 foot) walnut tree in the garden. It is quite open and airy and produces. Until the leave start to sprout I won't know if there is any deadwood.

Is there anything in particular I should be doing to look after it?

    Thank you
    Jo

I have a mature walnut in my garden. Apart from cutting out damaged/old wood (winter or mid summer) I just leave it alone. Unfortunately I never get a crop, the squirrels go mad and I have walnut trees sprouting up in my veg beds come spring!

I'm almost certain that walnut trees are very prone to bleeding after pruning and so any necessary work should be done before the sap starts rising again.

Thank you, I shall leave it alone for now and mark branches to be pruned next winter. I laughed at the squirrels! Luckily (for the tree) we don't have any round here!
