  • Leskovoskoviscovoscixoxssxo....er, Quince

No, can't remember exactly what it's called, and not trotting out barefoot into the snow to find out, either...BUT I was given a dwarf quince (from Blackmoor), variety something like Lescovicz (sorry Polish grapes, realise this is very poor show)...and I emailed Blackmoor to ask for growing advice, and they were surprisingly unhelpful. So it is to you, wise Grapes, that I turn, to ask:
a)is it realistic to grow it in a pot (big 'un)?
    b)any other tips?
Have no idea how big it'll grow or how to make it productive, and once we're thawing, I need to plant the poor thing...

                Baaaaaah!!!
When the weather improves, can you tell me something about the size and quality of the Quince please.
I've been thinking about getting a quince for a while and a dwarf one would be even better. I may treat myself

I've got it - bought last year - its a dwarf/patio quince, suitable for container growing. Mine is going in the ground though when I've identified where. Quite a hardy quince which we need up here.

Not yet! Give it a chance

It gives a different shape quince to my other one, Vranja. I wanted a couple of varieties as I plan lots of membrillo

No idea what variety of quince we have, but in our garden in Bulgaria we have a couple of fairly large trees (size of an apple tree) that give quite a few fruits each year. One year I made very successful quince jelly and it was lovely, last year just made a green mush!

I bought one of those from Blackmoor when we went to the apple day there last year. I asked the woman on the till if it would be ok in a container and she said yes. We planted in a very large pot on the patio in some John innes no. 3. I think we put some root grow granules around the root ball as well.

Will be interested to see how it gets on come spring.
