gooseberrys cuttings whats the next step ?

i took some gooseberry cuttings last autumn 6 in total 4 have taken , i have never done this before so whats my next step ?

Congratulations! Easy, isn't it? I wouldn't give up on the other two yet either. Upend the pot and see what the roots are like. Plant out those that have taken and hang on to the others for a few more weeks.

I had heard that layering was the easiest way so last autumn I decided to give it a try. You are supposed to peg down branches and they will root where the branch touches the ground. Bush was too prickely so instead of pegging I just layed bricks on wayward branches.
Off one plant I must have roughly 30 plants.
The idea was to grow them as standards or half standards so I've utilised about six, gave a dozen away and chucked the rest in a water butt until i decide what to do with them.

standards ? is that the single stem type of growing ? tall plants with a pom pom type top ?

Yes, that's a standard. Lots of plants can be grown like that, including roses and fuchsias.

Is it best to move them nowish, or leave them to get better roots first? I have a load of misc. currant, jostaberry, gooseberry cuttings, and was going to give some to a friend, and neither of us are sure what to do... Thanks for advice
