  • Avocado Plant - leaves gone brown

I have managed to get a decent sized avocado from a pit/stone.

originally used the toothpicks over a glass of water method, and then into some MPC in a pot.

Been on my windowsill in a big Starbucks mug, and around 2ft tal lnow so I have transplanted to pot.

I put the pot in the back garden as it was a bit smelly (poor drainage in the mug I guess) so as to dry it out a bit and the leaves have gone brown.

    Any ideas ?

Avocados like very well drained soil, they hate wet soil ( so it needs to dry out well between waterings ) and they like full sun , according to a book i have ( all about citrus and subtropical fruits ) they are hardy to -8C but its better to stay above 0C

Yes but ... if it's spent all its short life indoors, it'll need to be gradually hardened off before it goes outside for any length of time
