  • Honeyberry?

Has anyone grown one of these and is the fruit worthwhile?
Im kinda intrigued as I love Honeysuckle and know it has grown well in my garden before. Would a Honeyberry do as well do you think?

I have three plants and if you glued them together they would be less than six inches tall! I've got my fingers crossed that I haven't bought a set of duff bushes. No fruits yet! Cheers, Tony.

I believe a few folks have - have a search. Off the top of my head veggiechicken knows about it, and I think zazen999 too. Apparantly, they're growing in the wild on the mountain which I practically live on the side of. Haven't seen them yet mind.

I have two Lonicera edulis ("Blue Velvet" and "Kamtschatica") and one Lonicera caerulae.

I had some fruit last year, but can't tell you how it tastes, because the birds ate every single berry before I had a chance.

Berry should have a taste comparable to a blueberry, with fruit in may (edulis) and june (caerulae)

The plants are rather nice and have lovely flowers

Hi, I've got a couple that started off the same size as yours and I was on the verge of digging them up as they didn't seem to be doing anything and looked really sorry for themselves last year but this year (3rd year I think) they're both a good couple of feet high and wide and have had loads of flowers (only ever had the odd few before) - the bees love them and I've got my fingers crossed that I might actually get some fruit this year.

So - they seem to take ages to get going but then shoot up when they finally do, supposed to get to 5foot high and wide

I bought a Kamschatika yesterday but now see that 2 bushes are desirable for pollination. Can I take a cutting from this one and grow it on alongside the original or does it need to be a different species?

Don't know VC - probably need 3, to get at least one male and one female.

I bought 3 'jumbo plugs' last year and when they arrived, well they were not jumbo and the pic shows them next to a biro. I got my money back. They died back during the winter and came back this spring but they are still only about 3 inches tall.

I guess it's going to be a long wait for these!

This is the one that I've bought. I think Chris bought one too. How do we know whether they are M or F?
Mine has 2 old wood stems that have been pruned back and are shooting and a couple of new shoots that look just ripe for the plucking! I'm going to have to try.....
