  • Blueberry leaves falling

Hi - I have 2 blueberry plants which I planted up last autumn. They are in ericaceous compost in 10 litre pot and watered with rain water. I fed them ericaceous food over a month ago and they appeared to be thriving. Lots of flowers. But the leaves have suddenly started dropping. There are the tiny tips of new leaf shoots on the stems but right now they are pretty much bald apart from the flowers. Anyone got any idea what's going on?
    Thanks a lot

I'd guess at either a lack of water, or you've over-fed them - which has the same dehydrating effect because the soil is richer than the plant's tissues and therefore the rich soil draws the water out of the plant.

The above would be confirmed if you said that the edges if the leaves turned brown and crispy shortly before it dropped its leaves.

Thanks. I can say that it's definately not under-watering. They get rain naturally but also I was watering them from colleced wster. I was wondering if maybe it was over-watering. Maybe i did over-feed them. I'll leave them be and see if new shoots develop.
      Cheers

This sounds like a case of too much watering to me as well. I hope they enjoy the break and sprout for you. Usually once I've over-watered it's too late.
