  • Morrisons Grape Vines

They're £4 and tbh I'm not sure how I left the shop without one....

I didn't have my reading glasses with me though so couldn't read anything on the label about where they need to go (ie: greenhouse only, or whether they'd manage in a sheltered spot outside...)
so I will have to go back with glasses or take my OH who can read tiny writing.

Has anyone bought one? I think there were three varieties...

Hi, when we first got our greenhouse three years ago my husband bought a morrisons grapevine. I don't think it had a name but he planted it in the greenhouse and it grew, The only problem was it had little grapes with big pips. The following winter I dug it back up and planted it outside against my shed (south facing) It still gives a good crop of tiny grapes and the local children know that they are welcome to them. I decided that if I was giving greenhouse space to a vine it had to have big juicy grapes and bought a Black Homburg for £14 from my local garden centre. The first year I lost most of the grapes to a late frost but last year thanks to bubblewrap on a couple of cold nights in May my patience was rewarded.

The pics are of the black Homburg

The grapes from the morrisons ones taste fine, just very small, every one ive seen is a marechal foch , the grapes taste good grown outdoors here in the UK , they are a fairly small grape size and very sweet hence why they tend to grow them for wine

my missus bought 3 wilkinson's grape vines a few weeks back .... we had them in pots outside .... one frosty night and they all died .... no instructions on the packs saying they needed to be inside or to protect from frost .... complaint to wilko's coming up ....

likewise the twigs they passed off as olives just kinda did nothing .....

we certainly won't be buying anything like that "cheap" again .... we'll pay a bit more for something much more established and more likely to succeed ....

just need to find a couple of nice grape vines down our local garden centres .... ideally nice grapes for eating and for winemaking ....
