I hadn't realised what the cobwebby tents in the tree meant until I saw caterpillars on the lower leaves of my plum tree. Luckily when I googled I found it was yellow tailed, not brow tailed moth, which is even more irritating.
Yellow-tail Euproctis similis - UKMoths
We've pruned out the tents, and disposed of the branches (which hadn't come into leaf properly anyway). The tents were full of caterpillars, which had just started to come out . I'm also squashing any caterpillars I find. I will know what to look for in the future , I've never come across them before.
