Anyone grow tayberries?

Me again...... Mine arrived today, approx a foot in size, pretty healthy looking. How do I care for it, prune it etc, and what sort of yield can I expect? Any this year?

Just plant it. If you are lucky, you will get some berries this year. Later in the season, you will see new shoots appearing. Those are the shoots that are going to deliver you next year a first decent harvest. Cut back (to the ground) shoots that are 2 years old (after they fruited). Older branches yield less and inferior fruit.
Count 3-4 years before you get full yield (about 5 kg on a single plant)

So do the new shoots suddenly pop up in the soil near the main plant like a summer fruiting raspberry or blackberry?

I have two. One's a baby at the moment, but the other is seriously large: about 4 metres each way. Don't underestimate how big they get. Treat it as a blackberry.

I'm afraid I don't agree with sugar: it's important to be able to train it properly so you will need to deal with this. You'll need to some kind of structure or wall. Pruning and tying in really matters to keep the yields up. Here's a link to the RHS advice, but the plant shown is about a third the size of mine! Fruit's yummy if you can keep the birds and children off them. Let it get really dark red and eat with the thickest cream you can find.
