  • Aronia shrub

    Hi
I was given a fruiting shrub called an Aronia. It's supposed to be a little like a blueberry when it fruits, but can be planted out without having to use ericacious compost
Has anyone else ever grown one or had fruit from one? The one I have is about 2' tall, plenty of leaves, but no fruit as of yet.

Yeah, me and VVG picked up one each - also called Chokeberry. Mine flowered and fruits are just starting to form.

It looks a bit like a blueberry but doesn't taste anything like I'm afraid. Very astringant and need cooking to eat (you may get away with eating them after they've been ripe for a long time if the birds don't eat them)

Edit to say - I've never had any problems with fruiting unlike some of the other more unusual edibles
