Disappointing raspberries

The good news is, there are plenty of ripe raspberries: the bad news is they are tasteless. The rain must have washed the flavour out. Some of the little fruit thingys that make up the actual raspberry are so swollen its a wonder they haven't burst. And the dark, ripe raspberries are going mouldy. I lurvve rassers - but not these

Mine are still green, but I do hope the rain eases up or they will be tasteless.

Haven't even got red ones yet. I thought Wales was as cold and damp as the Midlands. I think you must live in Jersey really...

Just a jersey? .......I went out today with t-shirt, hoodie, waistcoat and my padded wax jacket......

I've picked a few from my unpruned older canes of Autumn Bliss and although well-coloured and of good size, they are lacking in flavour.
I'm hoping the main crop of Autumn raspberries will have had better growing conditions; East Anglia often has relatively long, mild, sunny autumns (these will be my famous last words).

On the plus side, though, for better (drier) weather: I am thinking of an ambitious mid-summer revamp of my front garden. Dry weather would not help new plants to establish.

So if the weather remains cool and wet, my new front garden will establish nicely.
If the weather turns warm and dry, I can enjoy the summer and the fruits and veg might grow and ripen normally.

Win-win situation?
Probably Mother Nature will find a way to spoil it.

One of the plotholders says his are ready for picking though today (at home) so I will ask him how they taste next time I see him.

The raspberries last year were really yummy so I am hoping they'll be as nice this year. The jam was amazing.

they tasted fine to me!
but not half as good as the raspberry wine we've made from last year's raspberries .....

Tried my uncles yesterday. They are massive, and the ripe ones were very tasty. Hundreds of unripe berry's of varying size on the bush. The bush is about 10 years old, and 10 foot long. i've never seen a more productive raspberry bush!
