Here's my latest "invention" for you to play with!
Think of a letter H. Two upright pipes connected by a horizontal - or maybe 2 horizontal lengths of pipe
Cut out planting holes in uprights and horizontal tubes. Insert into some of these upside down plastic bottles with open necks. Water into these so that the water goes down into the compost as it may be difficult to water into the cutout holes. Also insert more bottles at an angles into the uprights, maybe half way up, so that you can water into the lower levels.
This is a prototype - the rest of you can refine it

      Found this ...
mister todd's modest dirt: Pipes full of strawberries

Looks a winner, and is almost H shaped!

That's almost exactly what I've scribbled on the back of an envelope. I still think water bottle inserts would be good though!

now that looks more like a winer, and as VC says, add some watering/feeding funnels, however i thought strawberries had to be aprox 1ft apart,so would it mean that close together they be smaller plants or what
on having another look, they could be alpine plants,so the normal sizes shourly need more room,

Yeah they do look a bit close. 5 inches according to his calculations. Although maybe you could grow runners as anuals and have them that close and then throw them out afterwards before they get too big. Or maybe because the fruit would hang nice and cleanly down both sides there would be less chance of mould and disease so they can be closer? Anyways, I like the look of it.

Some copper tape around the uprights and we may be growing all our crops like that!

the slimers would become imune, they still make good perche's for the winged ones, plus if you got the poles on top of each other the fertilzer will burn the plants below,

Da daaa - decided not to plant through holes as it would be too awkward and at least rain can get at them for watering this way. 11 plants in each one and they are 6 1/2 feet long. Hopefully as everything will hang down the close planting will be ok. Next step is to hang them up. Fingers crossed it works out

The ends of the pipes seem to be mesh filter thingies?
