If you remove them now we'll never know the answer to the question! Can you give the blob a reprieve until you see what it is?

Believe me, I don't have an issue with spiders or any anything. My reason to get rid off, is I don't know how old the rasps are, and as I have taken over the plot since March I want to rearrange quite a bit and the new rasps will have a new bed and I will be able to look after them from the start. Paying £17.90 for 18 canes wasn't breaking the bank!! Veggiechicken they will stay where they are until the end of August when I will dig out and burn, hopefully I will be able to post final pics and mystery will be solved!!

Presumably you have some more pressing reason to cut down the rasps?

Spiders are good for the garden!

Meanwhile, although I too am of the "oooh, get it off..." sect, I am a little taken aback with us growers and nurturers just wanting to despatch the unknown.

Sad reflection on society perhaps? Didn't you ever watch ET?

          Sorry, feeling a little maudlin.......
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!
